Infant Teacher
I first discovered my love for working with children in high school. I began taking early childhood education classes at Bates technical college along side shadowing in the childcare on campus. Since then I have worked in 2 different childcare’s with children of ages between 2 months - 30 months. All in all, I have 6 1/2 years of professional experience in a lead teacher role working with infants and toddlers.
I first discovered the Montessori philosophy a couple of years back when I came across an article about it and began to research and learn about it. It was then that I discovered I was already implementing many of the Montessori ways into parenting my young child. I accepted my job here at Montessori in Motion last October as an assistant in the infant room.
What I love about Montessori teaching is that it is based around treating children with love and respect for who they are- human beings with their own minds, personalities, and emotions. It’s encouraging independence while respecting and understanding each child grows and learns at their own individual pace. I also love that it aims to nurture children’s natural curiosity and allows children to have the freedom to explore freely and find out what really draws in their attention making learning a fun experience.
I’m very excited to take over as lead in the infant room and can’t wait to see what the new school year brings!
